Want to install window film yourself? It's actually quite easy for beginners, as long as you have the right tools and follow the correct steps. Below are the essential tools for DIY window film installation and their uses.

Spray Bottle
Used for spraying diluted cleaning solution to help clean the glass and position the film. -
Glass Scraper
Removes stubborn stains or residues from the glass surface. -
Non-scratch Scouring Pad
Removes fine impurities from the glass to prevent scratching the surface. -
Squeegee (Glass Squeegee)
Removes water and air when applying the film, making it smoother and more even. -
Squeegee (Plastic Squeegee)
Helps to evenly push out excess water from inside the film. -
Utility Knife (Art Knife)
Trims and cuts the film, ensuring neat and flush edges. -
Ruler (Metal Straightedge)
Measures and assists in cutting the film to size.
⚠️ Installation Precautions
1️⃣ When cleaning glass, avoid scratching the film. Do not use steel brushes or abrasive cleaning materials.
2️⃣ It is recommended to use a clean, soft towel to clean the glass. Do not use the same rag to wipe window frames or other areas, as this may introduce dust and impurities. The use of paper towels or newspapers is not recommended.
3️⃣ Window film takes approximately 30 days to fully dry and cure. During this period, avoid washing or frequent touching.
🛠 Basic DIY Installation Process
Step 1: Clean the Glass
Spray the glass surface with diluted cleaning solution, then thoroughly remove dirt with a glass scraper and scouring pad.
Step 2: Remove Particles
Use a non-scratch scouring pad to remove fine dust, then use a squeegee to remove surface water.
Step 3: Apply the Window Film
Peel off the backing paper from the pre-cut window film, spray the film and glass surface with water, then align and apply.
Step 4: Squeegee Water and Air
After adjusting the film's position, use a squeegee to push out water and air bubbles from the center outwards, repeating at least twice.
Step 5: Trim and Finish
Use a utility knife to trim any excess film along the edge of the window frame to complete the installation.
